The Switchfoot Concert I Didn’t Get to See
I mean, seriously. That was really lousy of me to pick this day, of all days, to be all lethargic and (errr) to waste precious hours over Facebook. Yep, ladies and gents, I spent the whole day superpoking people, and flooding my Facebook friends’ inboxes with spam-ish invites, and nominating friends at Superlatives, and adding Facebook apps, and sending virtual gifts, drinks, and pastries. When I could have spent the night watching Switchfoot with some friends.

OCT 25,2007 Light It UP Switchfoot Night! (QC) at Conspiracy

Calling all Switchfoot fans!
Were you at the concert? If you were, then you'd know that it really takes this long to get over that awesome (AWESOME) Switchfoot Live In Manila concert. If you weren't, psssshhhhh.... You should've been there.
Anyway, here's your chance to:
a.) Get Switchfoot out of your system
b.) Get some Switchfoot songs into your system.
Light It UP Switchfoot Night! (QC) at Conspiracy, OCT 25,2007 Light It UP Switchfoot Night! (QC) at Conspiracy. 7pm
Featuring: Local Christian musicians (i.e. Iking Tan, Tiny Cactus, some other people who'll volunteer their awesome talents) covering Switchfoot songs, open mic, games (?), videos, slideshows, atbp. Damage is P100, and it all goes to the musicians.
Anyway, here's how to get to Light It Up [If you're lost, just text this number: +63.917.837.6796. Text the same number if you think you should perform.]:
Commuting from SM North
Walk to the jeep/FX terminal in front of Trinoma.
Ride a Project 6 jeep.
Here’s the tricky part: you have to wait till the jeep reaches Visayas Avenue. How do you know you’re in Visayas? You’ll see this huge red building on the left with a Mcdonald’s on the ground floor (on your left).
If the jeep turns to the right, you’ll have to get off at that corner and start walking past McDonald’s until you reach Conspiracy.
If the jeep turns to the left, you can get off in front of the Shell station.
Cross the street.
Look for the Conspiracy sign.
Commuting from Quezon City Hall
Ride a jeep that goes to Tandang Sora via Visayas Avenue.
Keep your eyes open for a Shell station which will be on your right (landmarks before Shell: Yellow Cab, Jollibee…).
Get off at the Shell station.
Cross the street.
Welcome to Conspi!
Driving
Find your way to the Quezon Circle
Turn right at Visayas Avenue
Conspiracy is right in front of the Shell station (which will be on your right), just make a u-turn somewhere after Shell.

Manila on the Daily Foot!
Finally, Andy posted his Daily Foot entry about Manila! Check it out:
9.10 Manila, Philippines.
we had been speculating as to whether jerome would be welcomed into his homeland either in a limo or with a giant parade saluting all that is fontamillas, but instead, we were greeted with an easy time through customs, which is easily just as welcomed.
we woke up early and went to a historic site in manila where a filipino revolutionary named jose rizal was jailed. in jail he wrote some books that helped lead to the independence of the philippines under their spanish rule. it was educational and awesome. we then went to this mall so that we could catch a ride back to the venue it what is called a jeepney. it's basically this old school long jeep with a bunch of crazy decorations inside and out. it was equally bumpy as it was awesome. we then got back to the venue and the guys did soundcheck and some interviews, and then we hung out until the mayhem began.
jon made the claim early on in the day, before the show even started, that he thought tonight would be one of his favorite shows ever, and i don't think it disappointed. tonight was nuts. i have never heard a crowd flip out more. one of the best things i have ever seen is when jon went around and introduced everyone, leaving romey for last. jon basically just turned in romey's direction, and the crowd just went insane. then he got on the mic and said some stuff in tagalog and everyone freaked out again. after that, in a show of true filipino love, some of the guys on stage ate something known as balut. just typing it kind of makes my stomach turn a bit, so i'll let you go wikipedia that one rather than me describe it to you. needless to say, it's gross.
one of the musical highlights from tonight is when the guys came out with an encore of a full band version of 'only hope'. 'a walk to remember' is the highest grossing movie of all time here, so when jon started into the song, there was a whole lot more flipping out. the whole day and night seriously were amazing, and it was such a high point to end this little tour on. see you back in the states. peace out.
Andy (their podcast guy) also posted some photos of their adventures, so check it out here. :)

How to get to Cuneta Astrodome
Just 6 more days until the concert! Are you excited? I am! If you are and you still don't have your tickets, then WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Tickets are still available!
Anyway, in case you're unfamiliar with the Cuneta Astrodome area (like me :p), here's a helpful guide written by my friend Yam. :)
HOW TO GET THERE:
1) MRT - LRTa. Libertad Station
Alight at the dulong station, EDSA-Taft then walk to the LRT station.
Buy a ticket for Libertad (P12)
At Libertad, get out of the station (sa may Mcdo yung exit) and cross the street (see map). You can walk or also take a trike pero the trike there is expensive! Hahaha 20-30 pesos yata. Pero since the place is unfamiliar I think it would be OK to take a trike.
Please note, medyo madaming tao sa baba ng LRT, since it's Pasay so just watch out. Bangketa talaga. Also the area across is the public market.
b. Gil Puyat/Buendia
Alight at Gil Puyat/Buendia station (after Libertad) and take a shuttle to SM Mall of Asia if you want to have dinner first. From MOA you can take a cab to Cuneta Astrodome
2) FROM MAKATI (via Buendia) or MANILA (Malate, etc)
If coming from Buendia, once you hit Roxas Blvd you can't turn left. You have to take the U-turn slot, lampas ng overpass. You will see World Trade Center.
Do NOT turn right to Roxas Blvd. after the U-Turn kasi walang left-turn slot going to Cuneta from there.
What you do is go past Roxas, cross the intersection and turn right sa service road. You'll pass the singing cooks and waiters restaurant, then DFA then you'll see Cuneta looming in the distance (left side). The Cuneta Astrodome bldg is painted in a weird shade of green.
3) VIA EDSA then Roxas Blvd.
6PM onwards usually coming from Makati, southbound na EDSA medyo traffic. Moving naman pero malaki ang volume ng cars.
Turn left at Roxas Blvd. You'll pass the old Hyatt, a couple of condo buildings and the Japanese embassy.
Cuneta will be on the right side, you can turn right at Libertad. You'll see a Jollibee and 7-11.
4) Other Public Transportation
Bus
The Las Pinas-Lawton/Sta.Cruz buses pass by Roxas Blvd. If you're coming from Manila via Taft Ave. you can board a bus bound for Las Pinas (signboards will say Baclaran/Coastal/Southmall).
There are also other Baclaran-bound buses that pass Buendia then Roxas Blvd.
You can get off across Cuneta Astrodome. There is a pedestrian overpass in front of HK Sun Plaza.
* If anyone knows how to ride a jeep to Cuneta Astrodome, please post on the comments. :) Thanks!
WHERE TO EAT?
1. SM Mall of Asia - you can have early dinner there. You can leave MOA at 7:15pm if you want to be at Cuneta Astrodome by 7:30pm :D2. Seaside/Dampa Macapagal - along Macapagal Blvd. there are many restos here. Dampa!
3. Hobbies of Asia - there's a Brothers Burger outlet here, if you want a quick meal.
4. HK Sun Plaza - across Cuneta Astrodome
On the side facing the venue: Jollibee (yes another one), Max's (chicken) and I can't remember if there's a Bacolod chicken or Chowking)
On the other side facing Macapagal Blvd there are other restos and food outlets (Kitaro, Danny's Grill etc.)
5. Around Cuneta Astrodome
Facing Roxas Blvd may Jollibee. I expect madaming tao dito on the concert day
Other side (along Libertad): Greenwich, another Jollibee, McDo and across that area, near Shell may Chowking (along Harrison)
6. Harbour View/Center near CCP
*******
For mosh pit ticket holders: If you want to get a good place in the pit, please be there early. :)
See you at the concert!

Switchfoot Leaves Sony/Columbia--becomes an INDIE ARTIST!
In Short! Switchfoot is now independent!
This is great. They're probably the most popular indie band this year. This in the wake of :
:
1. Selling bootlegs during concerts and encouraging file sharing of bootlegs
2. Publicly rebelling against DRM (copy protection) on their previous album
3. Giving away "Meant To Live" as a free MP3 download,
4. Blogging for TWO YEARS,
5. Video podcasting (you didn't know??)
6. Having a coloring contest for the "Oh Gravity" Album Cover
7. Doing a cowbell ringing contest for 'Oh Gravity"
8. Making a new "Stars" video that showed Jerome (who's pinoy) more prominently
9. Launching "Oh Gravity" --- a video sharing site for people succumbing to gravity.
10. Making a fan blog Switchfeed part of its official site. Hi Phil!
11. Singing Beyonce's Crazy in Love because of the "Bling!".
12. And Finally coming to the Philippines!
Also great news: 13 new songs are already IN THE WORKS- -W/c we will HOPEFULLY HEAR in MANILA! You have your tickets already? Great! If not, pick a StreetTeam member from the list on the right or go on to TicketWorld now!
Times are sure exciting for Switchfoot.
The rest of the internet noticed too:
Christianity Today
Blogcritics.
Breathcast
From the Official Site:greetings everybody!
I've got some exciting news: after several years of trying to make things work over at Columbia we have officially severed our ties with sony to pursue making music independently. We are thankful for the incredible success that our partnership has produced over the years, yet within this ever changing business there can arise differences in vision and goals. These differences have now come to a point where we feel like parting ways would be best for us, and best for sony.
As a hands-on band, we feel so grateful for our newfound freedom. We are continually dreaming up ways to bridge the gap between the audience and the stage; this feels like an incredible step in that direction. A huge thank you to bob, amy, nicole and tim over at columbia who were there from the beginning. We would also like to thank our musical family here in the states and abroad for sticking with us through these columbia years. We couldn't have done it without you!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We'll have more information for you as things shape up. In the meantime, here are several projects already in the works for the next year:
four jon foreman solo ep's
(tentatively titled fall, winter, spring, and summer)
the real sean jon
(a collaboration between jon foreman and sean watkins of nickel creek fame)
a new switchfoot record in '08
(the first 13 tracks were cut this week!)
